About Braemar

Renowned for its breathtaking scenery and bracing air it is no surprise that this area of Scotland was recommended to Queen Victoria by her doctor. Braemar stands at over 1000ft above sea level at the junction of the roads from Perth and Aberdeen. Although known chiefly today as the home of the Braemar Gathering, attended every year by the Royal Family who reside a mere 9 miles away during late summer, Braemar has many other significant attributes.

Braemar is the highest and most mountainous parish in the UK, with each of its 182,000 acres being more than 1000ft above sea level. The area contains within its borders some 24 Munros, or mountains of over 3,000ft, with three over 4,000ft. It has the highest 18-hole golf course in the country, and shares with Perthshire the Cairnwell Pass, at 2,100ft the highest through road in the country, which on the Braemar side passes through the Glenshee Ski Centre.

Braemar is a village on it's own where you can see close up a real life 13 pointer stag within the village itself, roe deer, red squirrels and a range of other wildlife.

Braemar is an excellent base for your Scottish holiday and offers an impressive choice of quality accommodation to suit all requirements. The ski resort of Glenshee is also within easy travelling distance, as are many of Royal Deeside's villages and towns.
